Lili’s Everest Adventure begins tomorrow, flying from Heathrow to Doha tomorrow (18th October).
On 19th she will fly onwards to Kathmandu in time for an evening briefing.
On 20th, Lili takes an early morning flight to Lukla (an altitude of 2880 metres).
On 21st the group will follow a trail on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi river, entering into Sagarmatha National Park. Lili will pass through several villages and a pine forest then slowly climb the steep trail up to Namache Bazaar. She will get her first views of Everest at the halfway point. By the end of the day, Lili will have climbed up to 3447 metres.
According to World Weather Online, the hottest remperature will feel like -5 Celsius dropping to -11 Celsius overnight on 21st and up to -7 Celsius and as low as -11 Celsius on 22nd, so positively toastie, then.
On 22nd, the group will take the day to acclimatize to being at 11,300 ft before continuing the following day, dropping steeply to cross the river at Phunke Tenfa (3250 metres) before climbing the steep trail to the Thyangboche Monastery and continuing to Debuch for an overnight stay in a lodge.
According to World Weather Online, the hottest remperature will feel like -8 Celsius dropping to -12 Celsius overnight on 21st – with some snow.
